Purpose (Scope of Ministry): To maintain and enhance the church facilities and properties, enhancing and extending the church's ability to gather, worship, make disciples, and reach out to the community and world.
The Properties Committee plays a crucial role in maintaining the church’s buildings and grounds, ensuring they are safe, clean, and functional for all church activities. This ministry helps preserve the church’s physical environment, making it a welcoming space for worship, fellowship, and service.
Team members oversee the upkeep of church facilities, from routine repairs to ensuring that major appliances are operational. They also make recommendations for improving the building's energy efficiency, accessibility, and overall user-friendliness. When repairs exceed the team's scope or expertise, they coordinate with outside contractors for necessary work. Additionally, the committee works with the Personnel Committee on staffing matters and collaborates with church leadership to address maintenance needs.
Members with skills in building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or groundskeeping are particularly valuable to this ministry. The Properties Committee ensures that the church building remains in top condition, with all maintenance tasks completed in a timely manner, allowing the church to serve its mission and community effectively.
