Purpose (Scope of Ministry): To assist the Pastor by helping to see that the candidates for baptism are assisted and prepared.
The Baptismal Ministry Team serves a vital role in preparing for and supporting the ordinance of baptism, helping make this powerful moment both meaningful and reverent for each candidate and the congregation. This ministry works closely with the pastor to ensure that each baptism is conducted smoothly, with care and spiritual significance.
Team members assist candidates by providing guidance, helping them robe, and making them feel comfortable and prepared for the experience. They also maintain the cleanliness and readiness of the baptismal area, including robes, towels, and dressing rooms. On the day of baptism, the team arrives early to assist with setup, support the pastor during the service, and handle cleanup and laundry afterward.
Led by a chairman and supported by the Associate Pastor for Worship and Discipleship, this team is ideal for those who desire to serve quietly but meaningfully, behind the scenes of one of the most profound acts of faith. While the chair must be a church member, others are welcome to serve, and all team members must complete Safe Kids Training.
